Argentina produced a commanding attacking performance earlier on Sunday, sweeping aside Burkina Faso 7–0 in an international friendly at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires.

The world champions needed only four minutes to open the scoring. Lautaro Martínez saw his penalty saved by goalkeeper Razack Guira, but reacted quickest to the rebound and finished to put Argentina 1–0 ahead.

Argentina doubled their advantage in the 8th minute when Burkina Faso defender Moumouni Diallo turned the ball into his own net.

The pressure continued, and Gianluca Prestianni made it 3–0 in the 12th minute after combining with Martínez before finishing from inside the box. The goal was particularly significant for Prestianni as it marked his first senior international goal for Argentina.

Nicolás Paz added Argentina’s fourth in the 35th minute, following up after his initial effort was saved.

Just one minute later, in the 36th minute, Julián Álvarez made it 5–0 after Prestianni delivered a low ball into the area, giving Argentina a five-goal advantage before half-time.

Argentina continued to control proceedings after the break despite making several changes. Franco Mastantuono added the sixth goal in the 57th minute, scoring after receiving a pass from Martínez.

The final goal arrived deep into stoppage time. Giuliano Simeone completed the rout in the 90+3rd minute, heading home from close range following a delivery from Valentín Barco.

The result was also significant because Burkina Faso entered the fixture under difficult circumstances. The African side had experienced major travel delays before reaching Argentina, leaving the team with limited preparation time ahead of the friendly.

Argentina’s emphatic victory was one of several unusually heavy international results recorded within roughly 24 hours.

In Europe, England also produced a 7–0 victory over Croatia, while Russia recorded an equally dominant 6–0 win against Namibia in Yekaterinburg.

The three results meant 20 goals were scored across the three international matches, highlighting an unusually high-scoring period in international football.

For Argentina, however, the main takeaway was another convincing attacking display as the team continued its preparations and maintained its reputation as one of the strongest national sides in world football.
