The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has confirmed that Tigers FC acquired Young African FC’s Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) status through a mutual agreement approved by the association.

Tigers FC finished the 2025/26 NPFL season in 14th position with 27 points from 30 matches and were relegated, while Young African FC finished 12th with 33 points.

In a letter dated 13 August 2026, the NFA confirmed that Young African FC will replace Tigers FC in the Southern Stream First Division for the 2026/27 season following the approved status arrangement.

The development means Tigers FC will avoid the First Division and, as previously reported, remain a club that has never played in that division.

The latest development also comes against the background of Young African’s previous attempt to transfer its top-flight status.

In October 2024, Young African and Namibian Correctional Service Football Club (NCS FC) entered into an agreement for the purchase of Young African’s Premier League status. The deal subsequently collapsed, with NCS FC later taking Young African to the High Court in a dispute over money reportedly paid in connection with the failed transaction.

The NFA has now formally approved the Tigers-Young African status arrangement and instructed the Southern Stream First Division to update its records for the 2026/27 season.
