Thembinkosi Lorch has once again been linked with a possible return to South Africa, with Kaizer Chiefs reportedly interested in the experienced attacker.

However, the latest reports suggest that a move to Naturena is unlikely for now, with Lorch expected to remain with Libyan side Al-Ittihad Tripoli and return for pre-season preparations.

The 33-year-old joined Al-Ittihad Tripoli in January 2026 after leaving Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca. Reports indicate that Lorch has a contract with the Libyan club that could keep him there until 2027, meaning Chiefs would likely have to negotiate a deal with Al-Ittihad if they want to bring him back to the Premier Soccer League.

During the 2025/26 campaign, he recorded 16 appearances, five goals and five assists across competitions, according to FootyStats. His record included seven Botola Pro appearances for Wydad, in which he scored four goals, before his move to Libya.

At Al-Ittihad Tripoli, he made five Libyan Premier League appearances and scored once, while also registering an assist.

Lorch previously established himself as one of South Africa’s notable attacking players during his time at Orlando Pirates before moving to Mamelodi Sundowns. His experience in the PSL, combined with his ability to play in attacking positions, has made his name attractive whenever clubs discuss experienced reinforcements.
