Bank Windhoek Updates ATMs to Accept New Namibia Dollar Notes

Customers using Bank Windhoek’s cash deposit ATMs are now able to deposit the latest series of Namibia Dollar banknotes, following a nationwide system upgrade by the bank. The development marks a major step in aligning banking infrastructure with the new currency design rolled out by the Bank of Namibia (BoN) in 2025.

The bank confirmed that it is the first financial institution in the country to begin enabling its ATM network to recognise and authenticate the upgraded notes for cash deposits. The upgrade process is ongoing and covers Bank Windhoek’s extensive ATM footprint across Namibia.

Currently, selected cash deposit ATMs are already accepting the enhanced N$200, N$100, N$50, N$20, N$10, as well as the commemorative N$30 banknotes. These notes feature improved security elements designed to strengthen protection against counterfeiting.

Bank Windhoek said the initiative is aimed at ensuring a smooth transition for customers as the new banknotes continue to circulate, while maintaining secure and reliable banking services. Customers are advised that more ATMs will be enabled as the upgrade process progresses nationwide.
