Preliminary information from the Erongo Regional Police indicates that the truck was travelling from Walvis Bay towards Windhoek. The vehicle was reportedly driven by a 54-year-old Namibian man. During the journey, the driver allegedly became aware of a pedestrian on the road but could not prevent the collision because of the short distance between them.

Emergency responders confirmed that the pedestrian had succumbed to injuries at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been established, and family members are still to be notified.
