
A 40-year-old man from Oipya village in the Ongenga constituency has been taken into police custody after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend during a violent argument on Tuesday night.
According to the Namibian Police, the incident happened on 11 November 2025 when the suspect and his girlfriend, 35-year-old Olivia Stephanus, were together in her room. It is said that an argument started after Stephanus told the man to leave, but he refused.
The argument turned physical, and the suspect allegedly attacked her with a screwdriver, stabbing her several times in the chest and back.
Stephanus sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital. She is currently in a stable condition.
Police officers arrested the suspect shortly after the incident. He is expected to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 13 November 2025, facing a charge of attempted murder under the Combating of Domestic Violence Act.
The police have confirmed that investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
