Man Nabbed After Allegedly Stealing Car at Choppies in Rundu

Police in Rundu have arrested a man after recovering a silver Honda Fit that was reported stolen outside the Choppies shopping centre in the Kavango East Region.

The vehicle was located around midday in the Safari neighbourhood, where officers found the suspect inside the car, allegedly asleep and under the influence of alcohol.

Earlier, the owner had reported the car missing after briefly leaving it unattended with the keys inside while buying maize meal. Upon returning, he discovered the vehicle was no longer where it had been parked and immediately alerted police.

Kavango East Regional Police Investigations Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu confirmed the arrest, the suspect is expected to appear in Rundu Magistrate’s Court.
