Truck Driver Arrested at Trans-Kalahari Border with N$2.9 Million Drug Haul Hidden Under Axle

A 32-year-old Namibian man was arrested on Monday at the Trans-Kalahari Border Post after authorities allegedly discovered a significant quantity of illegal drugs concealed on a truck he was driving.
According to police information, the suspect was operating a company truck when routine scanning procedures flagged suspicious objects beneath the vehicle. Officers then carried out a detailed physical search to verify the findings.
During the inspection, law enforcement officials uncovered drugs that had been hidden and tightly fastened underneath the truck’s axle. The seized consignment included 22.7 kilograms of skunk cannabis and 14,832 tablets suspected to be mandrax.
The estimated street value of the confiscated drugs exceeds N$2.9 million. The suspect has been detained and is expected to appear in court as investigations continue.
