A 58-year-old man was taken into custody in Grootfontein on Monday morning after allegedly issuing threats against a state prosecutor.

According to Otjozondjupa Police Regional Spokesperson Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the arrest was made at around 06:56 on 9 February 2026. The suspect is accused of targeting a 40-year-old state control prosecutor based at the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court.

Police allege that the man circulated handwritten notes containing threatening messages, warning the prosecutor to leave Grootfontein “before the same incident that happened in Ondangwa happens to him.”

The notes were reportedly left at several locations across town, including the Grootfontein Police Station, the Criminal Investigation Unit offices and a local guesthouse.
