A 27-year-old member of the Namibian Defence Force has been arrested in Otjiwarongo on two counts of motor vehicle theft after he was allegedly found attempting to sell suspected stolen vehicle parts.

According to Otjozondjupa Police spokesperson Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the arrest was made on Tuesday at a tyre repair workshop along Dr Libertine Amathila Avenue. The suspect was reportedly in possession of various motor vehicle parts, including car brand emblems, batteries, tyres and rims.

Police were alerted after the rightful owner identified the items and reported the matter to the Orwetoveni Police Station. Officers responded swiftly and apprehended the suspect at the scene.

The recovered items were later positively identified and returned to their respective owners.
