A 32-year-old man lost his life and five other occupants were injured after a vehicle overturned on the C31 road in the Otjozondjupa Region on Saturday, in one of several road accidents recorded over the weekend.
According to Otjozondjupa Police spokesperson and community liaison officer Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the crash occurred about 60 kilometres from Okahandja in the direction of Hochfeld. Police have opened a culpable homicide case following the incident.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle, which was carrying six passengers, allegedly lost control before overturning. Johannes Martina Matekanje, 32, died at the scene, while the remaining passengers sustained injuries and received medical attention.
