Zimbabwean football has been plunged into mourning following the tragic deaths of three senior Highlanders FC executives in a devastating road accident along the Harare–Bulawayo Highway on Thursday night.

The deceased have been identified as Highlanders chairman Kenneth Mhlophe, vice-chairman Sifiso Siziba, and treasurer Nkani Khoza.

Zimbabwean media report that, the three club officials died when their Ford Raptor hit a cow at around 8PM in Lochard, some 50km outside Bulawayo along the Harare highway, before colliding with a bus heading in the opposite direction.

A woman travelling with the executives was thrown from the vehicle when it overturned and was then run over by another car, killing her instantly.

The officials were reportedly travelling back from Kariba after Highlanders FC suffered a 1-0 defeat to ZPC Kariba in a Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League match when the fatal crash occurred.

Highlanders FC are currently seventh in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League standings, and the loss of three senior club officials comes as a major blow as the Bulawayo giants continue their league campaign.
