SPWC Raises N$245,050 for Women’s Community Centre in Swakopmund

SWAKOPMUND, 26 July 2026 – The SWAPO Party Women’s Council (SPWC) has raised N$245,050 towards the construction of a Women’s Community Centre in the Swakopmund District following a successful fundraising gala dinner held at the Sea Side Hotel.


The announcement was made by SWAPO Party Secretary General Sophia Shaningwa in a Facebook post on Sunday, 26 July 2026, following the gala dinner held the previous evening.

According to Shaningwa, the funds will support the development of the Women’s Community Centre, an initiative aimed at empowering women and creating a dedicated space for community activities in the district.


“In Swakopmund last night, we raised a total of N$245,050.00 at the Swakopmund SWAPO Party Women’s Council Gala Dinner held at Sea Side Hotel.

The funds would go towards the development of the Women Community Center, an initiative of the SPWC in Swakopmund district,” she wrote.


Shaningwa expressed appreciation to everyone who contributed to the fundraising effort and called on members of the public to continue supporting the project.

“I am therefore calling on good Samaritans to continue contributing towards this great initiative,” she said.


The fundraising campaign forms part of the SPWC’s efforts to mobilise resources for projects aimed at improving the welfare and socio-economic development of women in the Swakopmund District.


Party members, supporters and invited guests attended the gala dinner, where donations were made in support of the initiative.


The SPWC has not yet announced when construction of the Women’s Community Centre is expected to begin, but the funds raised mark a significant step towards the realisation of the project.
