Affirmative Repositioning leader and National Assembly member Job Shipululo Amupanda has released a police letter which he says supports his earlier claim that Speaker Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila has 16 bodyguards assigned to her office.

Amupanda shared the letter on social media on Wednesday morning, following reports that the police had denied his claim about the 16 bodyguards.

This is the same group of 16 officers whose names Amupanda published earlier. The names were reported in our previous article, where he said the group included four Police Inspectors, five Warrant Officers Class One, two Warrant Officers Class Two and five Sergeants.

The latest document shared by Amupanda is a letter from the Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force. The letter states that the attached list contains members who were “deployed to your office as Official Security Details to Speaker of the National Assembly Honourable Dr. Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila.”

The letter also asks the Speaker’s office to provide the officers with daily subsistence and travelling allowances during their deployment.

Amupanda says the letter proves that the 16 officers are officially assigned to the Speaker’s office. He also questioned statements made by General Mutota, who, according to Amupanda, said the matter would be investigated.

Amupanda further questioned whether the public can trust such an investigation after what he described as conflicting information about the Speaker’s security detail.

He also referred to reports published by a newspaper that there are additional security officers protecting the Speaker’s chickens at her village home in northern Namibia, with the cost allegedly paid by government.

“What is Interesting though, what we didn’t know, is what the Newspaper reported this Morning that there are more Bodyguards PROTECTING HER CHICKENS at her Village House DEEP in the North at the Cost of Government.

General Mutota said he will Investigate. Can we trust his “Investigation” when he LIED to the PUBLIC about the 16 Bodyguards? Oto Afraida Kaana KomuBorni! 🤔” Job Amupanda post

Amupanda asked why public money would be used for such security arrangements while prosecutors and magistrates are facing security concerns.

The letter shared by Amupanda refers to an attached list of security officers, but the portion of the letter made public does not itself show the names of the officers. Amupanda had already published the names separately in his earlier social media post.

The latest development adds to the growing dispute between Amupanda and the authorities over the Speaker’s security arrangements and the use of public resources.

The claims made by Amupanda, including those concerning security at the Speaker’s village home, have not been independently verified. The police had indicated that the matter would be investigated.
