Namibia’s boxing stars deliver three-medal haul at Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games
Namibia returned from the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games with three medals, with the country’s entire medal collection coming from the boxing ring.
The Games, which concluded on 2 August 2026, saw Namibia’s boxers produce impressive performances against some of the best fighters from across the Commonwealth, finishing the competition with one silver medal and two bronze medals.
The country’s best result came from Tryagain Morning Ndevelo, who secured a silver medal in the men’s 60kg category. Ndevelo fought his way into the final after defeating Northern Ireland’s defending Commonwealth champion Jude Gallagher in the semi-final, before finishing second after a closely contested final.
Namibia’s two bronze medals were won by Philip Pumulo Haoseb and Monique Araes.
Haoseb claimed bronze in the men’s 55kg division after reaching the semi-finals, continuing his rise as one of Namibia’s promising boxing talents.
Araes also made history in Glasgow by becoming the first Namibian woman to represent the country in boxing at the Commonwealth Games. She marked the historic appearance with a bronze medal in the women’s 51kg category.
While Australia topped the overall medal standings at the Games, Namibia’s three-medal performance placed the spotlight on the country’s boxing programme, which continues to produce athletes capable of competing at the highest international level.
