Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of officially unveiling Carlos Baleba as their latest summer signing, with the club hoping to complete the announcement on Monday.

According to Manchester United correspondent Samuel Luckhurst, the final documentation for the transfer is being completed, with the Cameroon international expected to put pen to paper well ahead of the Friday noon deadline.

United have already reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion for Baleba, with reports putting the package at around £70 million. The 22-year-old midfielder has also completed his medical, leaving the final administrative steps before the move can be formally confirmed.

Baleba’s arrival would represent another significant addition to Michael Carrick’s midfield rebuild. He would join Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos as United’s third midfield signing of the summer, with the club looking to add greater energy and defensive strength in the centre of the pitch.

There is, however, some uncertainty over when Baleba will make his competitive debut. The midfielder has been recovering from an ankle injury suffered during pre-season and missed Brighton’s August warm-up fixtures as a result. While the injury is not considered a long-term concern, his fitness will have to be assessed before United decide whether he is ready to feature against Ipswich.

United’s pursuit of Baleba has been a long-running one. The club previously showed strong interest in the midfielder but were unable to agree a deal when Brighton placed a significantly higher valuation on him. With negotiations now completed, the midfielder is finally close to beginning a new chapter at Old Trafford.

If the remaining paperwork is completed as expected, Manchester United supporters could soon see the official confirmation of Baleba’s arrival, adding another major piece to Carrick’s reshaped squad.
