A 39-year-old man is recovering in hospital after he was discovered with serious injuries beneath a train near the Mondesa Graveyard in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident occurred around 04:00 on 2 August 2025, when a train en route from Swakopmund to Arandis came to a halt after the engineer noticed something unusual lying between the tracks.
According to a police report, the locomotive driver and his assistant stopped the train and got out to inspect. To their shock, they found a man lying injured under the train. They immediately contacted the authorities.
Emergency services responded swiftly and transported the injured man to the Swakopmund State Hospital. He reportedly sustained multiple injuries to both arms but was said to be in stable condition at the time of admission.
It remains unclear how the man ended up on the railway line. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
Authorities have not released the identity of the victim as the investigation continues.
