A 60-year-old man, identified as Nzamene Situmbi, tragically lost his life on Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the B10 road at Halili village.
According to the police, the fatal accident occurred along the Rundu–Nkurenkuru highway. Situmbi was reportedly trying to cross the road when a silver Honda Fit, travelling from Nkurenkuru towards Rundu, hit him. The impact resulted in his death at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, remained at the scene and is currently assisting the police with the investigation. It is not yet clear whether any charges have been filed.
Authorities have cautioned road users, especially pedestrians, to exercise vigilance when crossing highways, particularly during night-time hours.
Situmbi’s next of kin have been informed, and police investigations continue.
