Police in Usakos have launched an investigation into a housebreaking incident that occurred during the early hours of Sunday morning at a local self-catering accommodation facility.
According to the Namibian Police’s Weekend Serious Incidents Report, two suspects allegedly broke into one of the apartments while the guests were asleep. The suspects reportedly gained entry by breaking a window and proceeded to grab two backpacks from the sitting room.
The incident occurred at around 03:00 this morning.
One of the guests woke up after hearing unusual movements and noticed the intruders. Realizing they had been detected, the suspects fled the scene with the stolen items. The backpacks contained a passport, a camera, sunglasses, bank cards, medication, and N$300 in cash.
However, the police report indicates that the suspects dropped the camera and sunglasses while escaping, which have since been recovered. No arrests have been made so far, and investigations are ongoing.
Police urge anyone with information that could assist in tracing the suspects to contact their nearest police station.
