A 27-year-old man was killed during the early hours of Saturday after a confrontation with another man escalated into a fatal stabbing at Aimablaagte location, Mariental.
The victim, identified as Jeffrey Bartman, died at the scene after sustaining a single stab wound to the chest, the police confirmed.
According to Hardap Regional Police spokesperson, the incident unfolded when the suspect arrived at a residence with his girlfriend and began damaging bedding using a knife. Bartman and other house occupants confronted the suspect, sparking a heated altercation.
“The suspect became enraged and chased the individuals while wielding the knife. During the confrontation, the victim was stabbed once in the chest and died instantly,” police reported.
The suspect has since been arrested and is expected to appear in court soon on charges of murder.
Police investigations are ongoing.
