
A 44-year-old man from Spitzkoppe is fighting for his life in Katutura Intermediate Hospital following allegations of police brutality involving officers reportedly stationed at Usakos.
According to information the man, whose identity is being withheld, was arrested before he was allegedly subjected to a severe beating by members of the Namibian Police Force (Nampol). He is said to have undergone a major operation after doctors discovered possible internal organ damage.
The victim, a father of five children including a toddler and the primary provider for his family, remains in critical condition.
Erongo police spokesperson, Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula, confirmed awareness of the matter, saying the allegations are under investigation. She assured the public that further details will be communicated once the investigation progresses.
The incident has sparked concern within the community, with many awaiting clarity on what transpired and calling for accountability.
