A Saturday morning routine turned deadly in Okahandja Park, Wanaheda, when a 19-year-old youth lost his life after being stabbed in the back during an altercation.

The victim, identified as Ernesto Ngongo Ndara, had gone with a friend to a nearby communal tap between 07h00 and 08h00 when two men confronted them, according to police spokespersons. One of the men asked Ndara if he recognized him. After Ndara confirmed that he did, the man walked away but soon returned, reportedly slapping the teenager twice across the face.

Ndara retaliated by throwing a stone, which missed its target. The suspect then produced a kitchen knife, chased the young man for about 40 meters, and stabbed him once in the back.

Injured and bleeding, Ndara managed to flee to his home, where relatives tried to save him by rushing him to the hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Police confirmed that the suspect was arrested later in Okahandja, while Ndara’s family has already been notified of the tragedy. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
