Former Member of Parliament and Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) shadow minister of education, Charmaine Tjirare, has officially parted ways with the opposition party this morning.
Her resignation comes just days after four other prominent figures Yvette Aries, Esmeralda !Arbes, Vakamuina Kamutuezu and Shonena Nathaniel also left the party.
Although Tjirare has not publicly detailed her reasons for leaving, her exit adds to growing concerns over internal fractures within PDM, which has seen a series of high-profile departures in recent weeks.
The leadership of PDM has yet to comment on Tjirare’s decision, but political analysts suggest the wave of resignations could weaken the party’s influence ahead of the upcoming electoral period.
Tjirare, who once served as shadow minister of education, has been a vocal figure in Namibia’s opposition politics. Her next political move remains unclear.
