A 41-year-old woman is under police guard at Oshakati Intermediate Hospital following her arrest in connection with an alleged case of concealment of birth.
According to police reports, the incident took place at Elyambala location in Ongwediva, where the suspect works as a bartender. It is alleged that she unlawfully disposed of the body of a newborn baby boy by placing it in a black plastic bag before discarding it.
The body was reportedly discovered by one of her colleagues, who immediately alerted the authorities. Police confirmed that the remains were transported to the Oshakati police mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
The suspect was admitted to hospital shortly after the incident and remains in a stable condition, but under police supervision. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
