A gruesome discovery shocked residents of Katutura on Friday morning after the naked body of an unknown young woman was found behind the Katutura Youth Complex in Windhoek.
According to the Namibian Police’s weekend crime report, the body was discovered on 3 October 2025, around 10:00, near the fence separating the complex and Peoples Primary School.
Items found at the scene included a torn pair of jeans, underwear, and a condom wrapper, suggesting that the victim was raped before being killed. Police said no visible injuries were observed on the body, and the exact cause of death will be determined through a post-mortem examination.
The identity of the victim remains unknown, and her next of kin have not yet been located.
Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities have appealed to anyone with information that could assist in identifying the victim or the suspect(s) to come forward.
This incident has once again sparked concerns over the safety of women and girls in public spaces, with calls for stronger community vigilance and faster police response to gender-based violence cases.
