Several former members of opposition parties including the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), National Unity Democratic Organisation (NUDO), Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), Affirmative Repositioning (AR), and the United Democratic Front (UDF) have crossed over to the Swapo Party.
The group was officially welcomed during a gathering held over the weekend at Ohanjuna village in the Omusati Region, as part of Swapo’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the upcoming Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections.
During the event, one former IPC member shared disappointment in the party, saying, “I thought IPC represented hope and transformation, but it turned out to carry the same spirit of Dr. Itula from Swapo, only now realize it’s filled with propaganda.”
Swapo Central Committee and Politburo member Modestus Amutse received the new members, commending their decision and encouraging them to help strengthen the party’s unity and visibility throughout the country.
