Kavango East Governor criticises National Youth Fund delays, tells DBN to leave politics out of funding

Kavango East Governor Hon. Hamunyera Hambyuka has criticised delays in the administration of the National Youth Fund, urging the Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) to ensure the process is free from political interference.
Speaking during an engagement with DBN, Hamunyera said the fund is taking too long to approve eligible business applications and is also delaying the disbursement of funds to businesses that have already been approved.
He said such delays are negatively affecting young entrepreneurs and called on the bank to improve efficiency in processing applications and releasing funds.
The Governor further appealed for greater transparency, saying regional leaders should be informed about successful applicants, as applications are submitted through councillors and the Governor’s office but approved beneficiaries are not communicated back to them.
He said a transparent system would improve accountability and build public trust in the National Youth Fund.
