Police hunt father after five year old girl found murdered in Omusati
Police in the Omusati Region have launched a manhunt for a 25 year old man suspected of killing his five year old daughter at Oshifo Village.
The victim, Hambeleleni Nako, was found dead at her home on Wednesday after her grandmother reportedly returned from work and discovered her body covered with a blanket behind a room in the outdoor cooking area.
Omusati Regional Police Commander Commissioner Ismael Basson said preliminary investigations indicate that the child was allegedly attacked with a sharp object and sustained multiple stab wounds as well as a fractured skull.
Police believe the suspect, who is the child’s father, fled the scene shortly after the incident and remains at large.
Basson described the incident as “very terrible and cruel” and said there were reports suggesting the suspect may have been under the influence of drugs, although investigations are ongoing.
Police are appealing to members of the public with information that could assist in locating the suspect to contact the nearest police station.
The investigation into the murder is continuing.
