Manchester City Open Champions League Campaign With Win Over Porto

Manchester City began their 2026/27 UEFA Champions League campaign on a positive note after securing a 2-0 victory against FC Porto on Tuesday night.
Erling Haaland played a decisive role in the result, finding the net twice to give City all three points at the Estádio do Dragão.
The Norwegian striker broke the deadlock shortly after the restart before adding his second goal late in the match, putting the result beyond Porto’s reach.
Porto had their moments during the game and managed to put pressure on the English side, but City’s defence remained composed when it mattered most.
The victory also gives City an important boost at the beginning of their European campaign, particularly after struggling to produce consistent results in some of their recent Champions League away matches.
Haaland’s goals once again highlighted his importance to City’s attack as the club looks to make a strong push for European success this season.
