Liverpool’s difficult run continued on Wednesday night as they suffered a 3-2 defeat against Fenerbahçe in the UEFA Champions League at the Chobani Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.

The visitors took the lead in the 25th minute through Trey Nyoni, who scored his first goal for Liverpool. However, Fenerbahçe responded four minutes later when Mason Greenwood’s free-kick took a deflection before finding the back of the net to make it 1-1 at half-time.

Liverpool regained the advantage in the 69th minute after substitute Alexander Isak headed home a cross from Cody Gakpo. However, their lead lasted only four minutes, with Archie Brown restoring parity in the 73rd minute before Vedat Muriqi completed Fenerbahçe’s comeback with a header in the 79th minute.

The result leaves Liverpool with plenty to address defensively after conceding three goals despite twice being in front. The defeat also marks another setback for manager Andoni Iraola following Sunday’s 1-0 Premier League loss to Arsenal.

Liverpool will now turn their attention to their next Premier League assignment, an away fixture against Crystal Palace on Sunday, 8 November.
