Julián Álvarez Reportedly Suffering From Depression

Julián Álvarez is reportedly going through a difficult period away from the pitch, with Spanish media reporting that the Atlético Madrid forward is suffering from depression amid the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future.
According to COPE, the Argentina international has not been feeling well and has missed training for several days. He is now set to remain out of Atlético’s squad for their upcoming match against Sevilla.
Álvarez’s situation comes as tensions continue to rise over his reported desire to leave Atlético Madrid and join Barcelona. Atlético’s board has firmly rejected the possibility of negotiating his transfer to the Catalan club, while reports have suggested that other clubs, including Arsenal, could be alternative destinations.
Atlético coach Diego Simeone confirmed that Álvarez will not travel with the team and said the club remains prepared to support the player when he is ready to return.
“Julián will not be available tomorrow,” Simeone said. He added that once Álvarez returns to training, he will do everything possible to make him feel important to the team again.
The forward had recently returned to Atlético’s squad after being left out amid the transfer speculation, but his latest absence has once again placed his situation under the spotlight.
Atlético CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín previously said Álvarez was going through a “very difficult situation” on both a personal and professional level, while insisting that the player remains highly valued by the club.
