With only two matches to go before the end of the season, the latest round of Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) fixtures has already confirmed the fate of three clubs at the bottom of the table.

Tigers FC headline the list of teams dropping out of the top flight after suffering a narrow 3-2 defeat to Eleven Arrows. The result seals a historic setback for the club, marking the first time since the league’s formation in 1985 that Tigers FC will compete outside the top division. Their relegation stands as a significant moment in Namibian football, given their long history and status as one of the league’s oldest teams.

Rundu Chiefs FC, widely known as Epangero, have also been relegated after failing to collect enough points to survive. The Rundu-based side had only just returned to the top tier this season following an eight-year absence after their 2017/2018 relegation. However, their comeback campaign has ended in disappointment, as they now prepare for life back in the lower division.

Life Fighters FC have also confirmed their relegation after struggling to maintain consistency throughout the season. The Otjiwarongo-based club had secured promotion for the current campaign after competing in the First Division last season, but were unable to retain their top-flight status.

Their recent history reflects a mix of progress and setbacks. A third-place finish in the 2022/2023 season highlighted their potential, but frequent movement between divisions has made it difficult for the club to establish stability at the highest level.

With just two fixtures remaining, the relegation battle has already been decided, leaving the affected teams with little more than pride to play for in the closing matches. Focus will now shift to rebuilding efforts as they aim to bounce back stronger in the next campaign.
