Blaze Strikes Swapo MP’s Residence in Rundu

A fire broke out early Saturday morning at the Tutungeni residence of Swapo Party Member of Parliament Sebastian Karupu in Rundu, causing significant damage but thankfully leaving all occupants unharmed.
According to eyewitnesses, the blaze quickly spread through part of the house, prompting urgent calls for assistance. The Rundu Town Council’s response was hampered by a non-functional fire engine, delaying immediate firefighting efforts.
Support arrived in the form of the Namibia Airports Company, whose fire truck was deployed to help contain and extinguish the fire. Residents were able to recover some personal belongings before the flames fully engulfed parts of the home.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, while local officials have pledged to review emergency response resources to prevent delays in future incidents.
