Manchester City Thrash Liverpool 3-0 as Haaland Gets on the Scoresheet
Manchester City strengthened their position at the top of the Premier League with a convincing 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, 11 October 2026.
The visitors produced a strong second-half performance to secure all three points, with Erling Haaland, Jérémy Doku and Rayan Cherki finding the net in a decisive spell that left Liverpool struggling to respond.
Liverpool’s afternoon became more difficult when Ryan Gravenberch was sent off in the 62nd minute after receiving a second yellow card.
City capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Haaland opening the scoring in the 65th minute. Doku extended the lead just three minutes later, before Cherki added the third goal in the 78th minute to complete an impressive away victory.
The result marked a significant statement from Manchester City against one of their biggest rivals, while Liverpool were left to reflect on a disappointing afternoon on home soil.
City’s victory keeps them top of the Premier League with a perfect record of six wins from six matches, giving them 18 points and a three-point advantage over second-placed Arsenal.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Haaland praised the collective effort of the players, club staff and supporters, describing the victory as a special moment that would remain with them for a long time.
“Every single person part of Man City and every single fan, this is a lovely moment which will stay with us for a long time when it comes to the feeling after the game, and in the game,” Haaland said.
The Norwegian striker added: “I am so proud of everyone.”
Haaland also highlighted the mental strength required to win at Anfield, acknowledging that playing Liverpool away is always challenging.
The victory provided Manchester City with another significant result in their Premier League campaign, while Haaland’s reaction reflected the pride and satisfaction within the team following their impressive performance.
