England and Ghana Share Stalemate as Round of 32 Race Goes Down to the Wire

England and Ghana played out a tense 0-0 draw in their second Group L match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, leaving qualification for the Round of 32 to be decided on the final matchday.
Both teams created clear scoring opportunities but were unable to find the breakthrough in a closely contested encounter. England captain Harry Kane had one of the best chances of the match when he found space inside the penalty area, only to fire his effort over the crossbar.
Ghana also threatened late on. In the 79th minute, Antoine Semenyo appeared to be through on goal after making a run down the middle, but the forward mistimed his movement and was flagged offside, halting the Black Stars’ attack.

Despite the lack of goals, both sides produced an entertaining contest and earned a point each. England and Ghana now sit on four points after two matches and will head into their final Group L fixtures with qualification to the Round of 32 still within reach.
With everything still to play for, the final round of group matches promises to be decisive as both nations seek to secure a place in the knockout stage.
