Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare assures students of July payment deadline after NSFAF visit

Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare has reassured tertiary students that government remains committed to clearing outstanding Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) payments by the end of July.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Ngurare said he made an unannounced visit to the NSFAF headquarters to assess progress after meeting student leaders from the Namibia National Students Organisation (NANSO), officials from the line ministry and NSFAF in mid-June.
According to the Prime Minister, all parties agreed during the June meeting that outstanding student payments and other administrative challenges would be resolved before the end of July.
During his visit, Ngurare said he met NSFAF Chief Accountant Eveline Anghuwo, who briefed him on the progress made in processing student payments.
He commended Anghuwo for what he described as professionalism, saying she was able to provide the necessary information without first consulting her supervisors.
The Prime Minister also thanked the responsible ministry and NSFAF officials for their efforts in addressing the payment backlog.
Addressing tertiary students, Ngurare acknowledged the frustration caused by the delays and said government remains focused on meeting the agreed deadline.
He added that the implementation of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s directive on subsidised tertiary education remains a priority.
