Racing Santander and Villarreal Share Four Goals in LaLiga Opener

Real Racing Club de Santander and Villarreal CF played out an entertaining 2–2 draw on Sunday in the opening round of the 2026/27 LaLiga season at El Sardinero.

Racing took the lead through Andrés Martín, who converted from the penalty spot in the 21st minute. Sergio Martínez then doubled the home side’s advantage nine minutes later with a spectacular finish.

Villarreal responded strongly before half-time. Pape Gueye pulled one back in the 45th minute before Nicolas Pépé equalised in first-half stoppage time to make it 2–2.

Neither side could find a winning goal after the break, with the points ultimately shared.
