Namibia’s Brave Warriors are set to face one of Europe’s established national teams after the Namibia Football Association (NFA) confirmed an international friendly against Russia on 3 October 2026.

The match will be played in Yekaterinburg, Russia, following an agreement between the NFA and the Russian Football Association.

Brave Warriors head coach Collin Benjamin welcomed the fixture, saying matches against strong international opponents are important for the continued development of Namibia’s players.

Benjamin said playing against teams from different footballing environments gives the squad valuable experience and helps prepare players for the demands of continental competition, including CAF and Africa Cup of Nations matches.

He also highlighted the importance of testing the team under difficult conditions, saying such encounters allow the technical team to assess the players’ fitness, stamina, endurance and ability to handle pressure against highly rated opposition.

According to Benjamin, regular international matches of this level can help the Brave Warriors become more competitive and better prepared for future challenges.

The coach said Namibia would welcome more opportunities to play quality opposition, as continued exposure to international football could help the team build on its progress and reach greater heights.
