Manchester United Settle for a Draw Against 10-Man Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United were denied all three points after conceding a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw against 10-man Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead in the 73rd minute, but Dominic Solanke struck in stoppage time to earn Tottenham a share of the points despite playing with a numerical disadvantage.
Tottenham started the match strongly and created several promising opportunities in the first half. Dominic Solanke came close to opening the scoring early on, but his effort was stopped by United goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Mohammed Kudus also missed a good opportunity after being set up by Savio, as Tottenham struggled to turn their attacking pressure into goals. United gradually improved but found it difficult to create clear chances before the break.
The visitors continued to threaten after half-time, with Luke Shaw making an important goal-line clearance to prevent Tottenham from taking the lead.
United eventually broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute when Mbeumo finished from inside the box to give the home side a 1-0 advantage.
Tottenham’s task became more difficult when Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off for headbutting Luke Shaw, leaving the visitors with 10 men for the closing stages.
However, Spurs refused to surrender. In the 90+2nd minute, Solanke headed home a cross from Sandro Tonali to level the score and silence the Old Trafford crowd.
The late equaliser left Manchester United frustrated after failing to take advantage of their numerical superiority, while Tottenham earned a valuable point through their persistence.
The draw also marks the second time this season that Manchester United have failed to take advantage of playing against 10 men. United previously suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on 13 September, despite City having Phil Foden sent off in the first half. Erling Haaland scored the decisive goal in that Manchester derby.
