British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua Involved in Fatal Road Crash in Nigeria

Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has been involved in a tragic road accident in Ogun State, an incident that reportedly claimed the lives of two people along the Lagos–Ibadan expressway.
The accident is said to have occurred near Makun, Ogun State, on one of Nigeria’s busiest highways. According to preliminary reports, a Lexus SUV conveying the former world heavyweight champion collided with a stationary truck under circumstances that are still under investigation by authorities.
Joshua reportedly sustained minor injuries and was said to be stable following the incident. However, the crash tragically resulted in the death of two individuals at the scene,
Preliminary reports suggest that one of the victims was Latif, popularly known as “Lats,” a personal trainer and longtime close associate of Anthony Joshua, who had reportedly spent time with the boxer earlier on the day of the accident.
The second fatality is believed to be another member of Joshua’s training and support team, with unverified reports indicating he was involved in strength and conditioning work.

While authorities are yet to officially release the identities of the deceased, multiple media reports and eyewitness accounts indicate that both individuals were part of Joshua’s inner circle and professional support staff.

Joshua is of Nigerian descent and has consistently embraced his Yoruba heritage. He has made several visits to Nigeria over the years and frequently special holidays speaks about the influence of his roots on his life and boxing career.
The incident comes at a time when Joshua has been in the spotlight following his recent return to the ring beating Jake Paul.
As investigations into the fatal crash continue, authorities have yet to release an official statement detailing the cause of the accident. No comment has also been issued by Joshua or his management team at the time of reporting.
