Namibian boxer Paulus ‘Ninja’ Shimweefeleni was allegedly shot in the arm on Thursday morning in Kleine Kuppe, Windhoek, while attempting to assist his girlfriend during an attempted robbery.
According to reports, the incident occurred as his girlfriend was leaving their home for work when unknown suspects allegedly tried to rob her vehicle. Shimweefeleni reportedly intervened in an effort to help, during which he was shot in the arm.
Dennis Tobias, chairperson and founder of Faith Foundation, with which Shimweefeleni is affiliated, reported confirmed the incident. Tobias said that when he arrived at the scene, medical personnel were already attending to the injured boxer and preparing to transport him to hospital for treatment.
At this stage, it is not yet known whether the suspected robbers managed to take anything during the attempted robbery.
