Namibia Set to Reduce Fuel Prices in February Following Over-Recovery

The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy has announced a significant adjustment in fuel prices, effective Tuesday, 4 February 2026, following a review of the petroleum sector.
The Ministry reported that recent fuel sales had resulted in an over-recovery, meaning consumers had been paying more than the actual cost of fuel. Petrol recorded an over-recovery of 127.48 cents per litre, while diesel showed over-recoveries of 80.17 cents per litre for the 50ppm variant and 89.77 cents per litre for the 10ppm variant.
In response, the Ministry approved a decrease in prices to reflect the true market value. Petrol will drop by 100 cents per litre, and both diesel variants will be reduced by 50 cents per litre.
For residents in Walvis Bay, the new fuel prices will be:
- Petrol: N$19.58 per litre
- Diesel 50ppm: N$19.63 per litre
- Diesel 10ppm: N$19.73 per litre
The adjustments will also be implemented across the country, with regional pump prices aligning with the revised rates in Walvis Bay.
The Ministry emphasized that these changes are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that fuel prices reflect market realities and to ease the financial burden on Namibian motorists. Analysts say the reduction will provide some relief to transport operators and households, as fuel remains a significant driver of costs for goods and services.
Motorists are encouraged to plan their fuel purchases accordingly and take note of the price reductions when filling up their vehicles next week.
