Dangote Sets Decade-Long ₦1 Trillion Investment to Support 1.3 Million Students

Nigeria’s education sector is set for a major transformation as the Aliko Dangote Foundation rolls out a ₦1 trillion, ten-year support programme aimed at expanding learning opportunities for disadvantaged students across the country.
The long-term initiative will begin by supporting 45,000 learners, with the number expected to grow steadily until it reaches more than 1.3 million beneficiaries over the decade. The focus areas include STEM education, girls’ education, technical learning, and targeted interventions for students at risk of dropping out.
According to the foundation, the goal is to close persistent gaps in access to quality education, especially for young people from vulnerable communities. The programme will also invest in strengthening teaching capacity and improving learning environments.
The commitment comes as Aliko Dangote continues to gain global recognition for his philanthropic work, including being named among TIME’s Top 100 Philanthropists. The foundation says its ambition is to ensure that no child’s future is cut short due to poverty or lack of opportunity.
By directing resources toward those most likely to be left behind, the initiative aims to build a stronger, more equitable education system for the next generation.
