8-Year-Old Child Dies After Detached Truck Tyre Strikes Him Near Mururani

An eight-year-old boy has tragically died after being struck by a detached truck tyre in an incident reported near Mururani on Tuesday.
Kavango West Regional Commander, Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo, confirmed that two wheels came off a moving truck and rolled toward the roadside, fatally hitting the child. The boy died instantly. The truck driver reportedly continued driving, unaware that the wheels had detached from his vehicle. She confirm this during GIC session with MICT- Kavango West.
Authorities have urged parents and guardians to prevent children from playing near busy roads, stating that pedestrian safety especially for minors remains a critical concern in the region. Pedestrians are also advised to stay alert and keep a safe distance from roadways, particularly in areas frequented by heavy-duty trucks.
Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing.
