Accident at Nepara, Kavango West Claims Lives of Two People

Two people, including a one-year-old girl, lost their lives on Monday after a pickup truck overturned near Nepara village in the Kavango West region.
According to Inspector Raimberth Muronga, regional police chief, the white pickup was travelling from Nkurenkuru towards Ncauncau village when the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle and subsequently lost control, causing the truck to overturn.
“The accident claimed the life of 24-year-old Mpepo Hausiku, who died at the scene. A one-year-old girl, Mpepo Maria, later passed away after being admitted to the hospital,” Inspector Muronga confirmed.
Several other passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious and were treated at nearby medical facilities. The police have informed the next of kin of the deceased, and the bodies were transported to the Nkurenkuru Police Mortuary.
A case of culpable homicide as well as reckless and negligent driving has been opened. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are ongoing.
