At least 19 people have lost their lives in road accidents across Namibia over the past two days, highlighting a growing road safety crisis nationwide.

The latest incident occurred on Friday morning near Usakos, where one person died and four others were critically injured in a three-vehicle collision. The crash happened near the railway bridge on the road between Usakos and Karibib. Emergency teams confirmed one fatality at the scene, while the injured victims were rushed to hospital in critical condition.

The death has pushed the Erongo Region’s toll to nine fatalities in just two days. Earlier this week, eight people were killed in a horrific crash on the Swakopmund-Arandis road on Wednesday night.

Another deadly accident was reported between Otjiwarongo and Okahandja on Thursday night, where 10 people reportedly lost their lives.

Erongo Governor Nathalia Goagoses has described the escalating number of crashes as an emergency, as concern grows over the increasing loss of life on Namibia’s roads.
