Authorities Release Names of 16 Deceased in Mariental accident

The tragic accident near Mariental that claimed the lives of 16 law enforcement officers has now been followed by the release of their identities, with police chief Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo confirming the details on Sunday.
Among the deceased are two sisters, a fact Shikongo highlighted as he extended condolences to the families and colleagues affected by the devastating loss. The officers were being transported to duty when the accident occurred on Saturday.
The victims have been identified as:

- Senior Correctional Officer Simon Ndumba Sinyemba

- Senior Correctional Officer Petrus Muataua Mbuale
- Senior Correctional Officer Noa Mandume Hameho
- Correctional Officer Two Tomas Negumbo Shikongo
- Correctional Officer Two Adresheid Taapopi
- Correctional Officer One Johannes Mbeeli
- Correctional Officer One Katjitombua Muhue
- Correctional Officer One Jason Jackson Jatileni Amadhila

Shikongo confirmed that all next of kin have been notified. Meanwhile, four survivors remain hospitalised in critical condition as medical teams continue to provide care.
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the cause of the crash.
