Man Injured After Excavator Falls on Him in Katima Mulilo

A man was seriously injured after an excavator fell from a truck and landed on him in the Macaravani West area of Katima Mulilo, between Namib Mills and the Namibia Breweries depot.
According to reports, the excavator was being transported along an unserviced road when it became unstable and fell from the vehicle. The victim, who had been travelling as a passenger in the truck, had reportedly stepped out to inspect whether the machinery was properly secured when the incident occurred.
He sustained injuries to his leg and face and was rescued at the scene before being taken to Katima Mulilo State Hospital for treatment.
The truck driver was later arrested after authorities determined that the vehicle was not complying with road transport regulations, although he was found to be in possession of a valid driving licence.
