Mentally Unstable Man Steals Police Vehicle, Crashes in Khomasdal

A 32-year-old man believed to be mentally unstable allegedly stole a Windhoek City Police vehicle on Tuesday morning before crashing it into a property in Khomasdal.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at the Windhoek City Police Service offices in Khomasdal. The man reportedly arrived at the station around 07h25 seeking assistance, claiming that he had been assaulted and robbed in the area. He asked officers to help him locate the alleged suspect.
Police officers instructed the man to wait outside while they arranged for assistance. However, as he was leaving the office, he allegedly took a set of vehicle keys that had been left on a table.
Shortly afterwards, officers noticed a police vehicle being driven out of the station yard. Police members pursued the vehicle and later discovered that it had crashed into a property in Richardine Klopper Street, not far from the police offices.
