Truck Driver in Stable condition After Beer Truck Overturns Near Mariental

A 58-year-old truck driver is recovering in stable condition after being involved in an accident early this morning approximately 30 kilometres from Mariental on the road to Gibeon.
The truck, which was transporting a load of beer belonging to WA Fourie Transport, reportedly left the road, prompting emergency services to respond to the scene. While the driver sustained injuries, authorities confirmed that his condition is stable.
According to Acting Regional Commander for Hardap, Commissioner John Mwatongwe, some bystanders attempted to remove items from the accident site. He cautioned that such behaviour is not only illegal but also poses serious safety risks.
“We remind the public that interfering at accident scenes is prohibited and can be extremely dangerous,” Mwatongwe said.
Motorists travelling along the route are urged to exercise caution, as recovery operations are still underway. Authorities are working to clear the area and restore normal traffic flow.
